Gambhir Appointed by BCCI’s CAC

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has named World Cup-winning former opener Gautam Gambhir as the new head coach of the Indian cricket team. The Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC), comprising Ashok Malhotra, Jatin Paranjpe, and Sulakshana Naik, unanimously selected Gambhir. At 42, Gambhir played a crucial role in India’s 2011 ODI World Cup triumph and will replace Rahul Dravid, whose tenure ended after ICC T20 World Cup 2024 victory in Barbados last month.

As a player, Gambhir led Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to IPL titles in 2012 and 2014. He further proved his coaching abilities by mentoring the KKR team that won the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.
