Following India’s victory in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 final against South Africa, the BCCI announced a reward of INR 125 crore for the team, support staff, and coaching staff.

ICC T20 World Cup 2024 Triumph

India secured their first ICC title since the 2013 Champions Trophy. The INR 125 crore prize money recognizes their achievement after an 11-year wait for an ICC trophy, covering the entire 42-member contingent.

Comparison with Previous ICC Wins under MS Dhoni

In 2013, players received INR 1 crore each, and support staff earned INR 30 lakh for winning the Champions Trophy. The 2011 ODI World Cup initially awarded INR 1 crore per player, later revised to INR 2 crore, with support staff getting INR 50 lakh and selectors INR 25 lakh each.

The 2007 ICC World T20 win rewarded the entire team with a cumulative INR 12 crore.

Distribution of T20 World Cup 2024 Prize Money

As per the Indian Express, each of the 15 squad members from India’s T20 World Cup 2024 squad will receive INR 5 crore, including non-playing members. Reserves will get INR 2.5 crore each.

Head coach Rahul Dravid and his coaching staff will receive INR 5 crore and INR 1 crore respectively. Support staff, such as physios and throwdown specialists, will earn INR 2 crore each, while selectors will get INR 1 crore each.

BCCI’s prize distribution reflects cricket’s growing stature in India, emphasizing substantial rewards for players and support staff in major ICC tournaments. The prize money allocation underscores the board’s commitment to acknowledging excellence across the cricketing fraternity following India’s T20 World Cup triumph.
