England midfielder Phil Foden is set to rejoin the national team in Germany after briefly returning to the United Kingdom for the birth of his third child. The 24-year-old departed the England camp for what was described by the Football Association as a “pressing family matter,” interrupting his participation in Euro 2024.

Foden, a seasoned player with 37 caps, had been a pivotal part of England’s campaign, starting in all three of their group stage matches, including the recent draw against Slovenia. His return to the squad is expected on Thursday, ensuring his availability for training ahead of England’s crucial last-16 match against Slovakia in Gelsenkirchen on Sunday, scheduled for 17:00 BST.

Manager Gareth Southgate’s team secured the top spot in Group C with a commendable tally of five points from their group stage outings. Despite the temporary absence of Foden, England’s performance has been solid, setting a promising tone as they advance deeper into the tournament.

Earlier in April, Foden and his partner Rebecca Cooke had shared the news of expecting their third child via Instagram. The couple already has two children together: five-year-old son Ronnie and two-year-old daughter True.

Foden’s return to the England squad brings a sense of continuity and stability, crucial elements as the team prepares for the knockout stages. His presence and experience in midfield will be vital as England aims to progress further in Euro 2024, potentially reaching the pinnacle of international football once again.

Stay tuned as Foden rejoins his teammates, bringing renewed focus and determination to the England camp ahead of their upcoming challenges in the tournament.
